Though Disney largely stopped playing this Halloween film in favor of more family friendly hits like Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown, The Scream Team holds up with a genuinely spooky storyline.
After the death of their grandfather (Gary Reineke), Ian (Man Rendall) and Claire (Kat Dennings) freak out when they capture a ghost named Jumper (Tommy Davidson). He and Coffin Ed (Eric Idle) are trying to help their grandfather pass on to the afterlife, but the threatening Zachariah Kull (Kim Coates) is putting up a fight in the area.
Utilizing a darker tone than many Disney Channel Original Movies, The Scream Team has some scares throughout. Zachariah Kull can be terrifying, and the use of fire throughout makes it more dangerous. However, Idle, Davidson and Kathy Najimy keep things light with their expert brands of humor.
Final say: Worth the scream. ★★★★☆
