Premiered: October 17, 1998
On: Disney Channel
Starring: Debbie Reynolds, Judith Hoag, Kimberly J. Brown, Joey Zimmerman, Emily Roeske, Phillip Van Dyke & Robin Thomas
The late, great Debbie Reynolds has many iconic movie roles, but few are loved and revisited every year like Aggie Cromwell in Halloweentown.
Marnie (Kimberly J. Brown) can’t stand that her mom (Judith Hoag) won’t let her have fun on Halloween. But, her life is turned upside down when her grandma (Reynolds) reveals that the Cromwells are a family of witches. Now, Marnie must help her grandma fight the forces of evil threatening the town.
As a child, it was so cool to think that your grandma could show up and reveal that you were from a magical place. And, while this movie is turning 19, the thrills and magic are still there. Intertwined with comedy and suspense, this could-be-corny storyline remains as awesome for children and adults since it premiered.
Final say: Who wouldn’t want to live in Halloweentown? ★★★★★
