A dangerous theme park story from famed author Michael Crichton, who would later go on to write another theme park disaster with Jurassic Park, Westworld is a chilling story about entertainment blurring the lines of reality.

Peter Martin (Richard Benjamin) and John Blane (James Brolin) take a trip to the ultra-realistic amusement park Delos where they opt into joining Western World based on the American Old West. Able to fight and kill robots, Peter gets into a tussle with the Gunslinger (Yul Brynner) who keeps coming back and malfunctions into acting on his own.

The idea behind the film is revolutionary and still thrills years later with alternate and virtual realities being so thrilling. Robots taking over in a human world is also a storyline that’s consistently recreated today.

Final say: A lasting story. ★★★★☆
