If you’ve seen the first two Jurassic Park movies, you may be slightly confused at the beginning of this novel as the opening here is the opening scene of The Lost World: Jurassic Park.
Those who are looking strictly for action and excitement might want to stick to the Spielberg adaptation. The novel features an incredible amount of math and science. It’s clear that author Michael Crichton wanted to make the story as real and factual as possible.
However, that’s not to say that the action isn’t there. When the dinosaurs start attacking, it’s a thrill and a fast-paced read. As with the movie, the storyline of recreating dinosaurs as a theme park attraction is thought provoking, but also a bit insane.
Final say: Read the book for the educational part lacking in the film. ★★★☆☆
