Season two of Peaky Blinders brings the same style and swagger that was presented in the first season and ups the stakes making for a truly tense viewing experience.

Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and his family want to expand their business north and south and works alongside Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy) and his Jewish gang in Camden Down. They face backlash from an Italian gang led by Darby Sabini (Noah Taylor). Polly (Helen McCrory) reconnects with her biological son Michael (Finn Cole).

Murphy deserves high recognition for his work as the always convincingly strong and in-command Thomas Shelby. Audiences also get to see a softer side of Polly – executed by the entrancing McCrory.

The action moves fast, and you’ll lose track of who’s loyal to whom, but the payoff is fantastic.

Final say: The Shelby’s come out on top. ★★★★☆
