Based on the mind and stories of prolific horror author Stephen King, Castle Rock brings a brilliant original tale to the screen.
At Shawshank Prison, an inmate named The Kid (Bill Skarsgård) is discovered below ground. When he states the name Henry Deaver, Henry (Andre Holland) comes home to learn what he can about The Kid.
While it seems that the show might not contain the intensity and scares that other King media does, the slow-burn horror builds unsettling anticipation.
Standing out in the cast are King alumni Skarsgård (It) and Sissy Spacek (Carrie). Though in vastly different capacities, both play haunting characters that will emotionally hit you. Spacek has an episode dedicated to her character dealing with dementia where she plays the confusion perfectly.
Final say: A must for any King or horror fan. ★★★★☆
