A sequel to the hit 1993 film Jurassic Park, there’s big adventure but little payoff in The Lost World.

John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) tricks Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) into joining a team, including his girlfriend Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), going to a second island where dinosaur testing happened. Meanwhile, Roland Tembo (Pete Postlethwaite) is set on bringing dinosaurs back to the mainland.

There are some good features about this film. Goldblum’s Ian Malcolm is an iconic character and shows Goldblum in his best quick-speaking form and the dinosaurs are fun to watch.

However, there’s just too much that doesn’t live up to the original. There’s almost too much chaos bringing a T-Rex into the US and some of the characters are annoying reimaginations of ones from the first.

Final say: Best left in the past. ★★☆☆☆
