The original film that sparked new interests in dinosaurs and gave audiences the thrill of a lifetime holds its own today.
When billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) builds an unusual theme park, he needs to bring in experts for validation. Paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and paleobotanist Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) join chaos theorist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) and soon realize the dangers of bringing an extinct species back to life.
Director Steven Spielberg uses a visionary eye to create the dinosaurs. Mainly using robotics, the dinosaurs look and feel realistically terrifying. The moments of suspense are in true Spielberg form and still have you on the edge of your seat.
And while the dinosaurs are amazing, they don’t overshadow the human characters’ storylines. You’ll still enjoy every moment there’s not a dino on-screen.
Final say: A classic adventure. ★★★★★
