Book: Leah on the Offbeat

A follow-up to her debut novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, author Becky Albertalli shifts the focus from Simon to his best friend Leah in a story that rivals the beauty and fun of the first.

Leah knows she’s bisexual, but she’s the only one. She can’t admit it to anyone, not even to her openly gay best friend Simon. But Leah soon realizes she’s developing feelings for someone she shouldn’t. With graduation coming and college on its way, she realizes that her whole life is changing.

It’s entertaining to see what has happened to Simon, Abby, Bram and Nick since the conclusion of Simon’s romantic hunt.

Leah is such a strong character on her own. Albertalli fully forms Leah’s voice, which was often hilted in the first book.

Final say: It’s the right beat. ★★★★★
