Every part of this novel feels so authentic. Part of it follows Simon as he goes about his day-to-day activities enjoying high school and starring in their production of Oliver! The other part follows email conversations between Simon – under the pseudonym Jacques – and his love interest, Blue. Simon knows that Blue goes to school with him, Simon just doesn’t know who he is.

Yes, Simon goes through good and bad times, fights with his friends and is hopelessly romantic, but it makes him human. I truly saw myself in this character and feel like everyone will see a part of themselves in him as well.
