Music: Live – Barefoot at the Symphony

Released: March 6, 2018

By: Idina Menzel

Before her turn as Queen Elsa in Frozen, Idina Menzel had already established herself as one of the biggest forces in musical theater. A Tony nominee for Rent and Tony winner for Wicked, it’s easy for her to lead her own concert.

Backed up by legendary conductor Marvin Hamlisch and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Menzel puts on a spectacular show. The live album finds Menzel in her element leaving all her emotions on stage.

Along with the songs, Menzel tells stories of her past and then-present. She has fun talking about performing for her idol Barbra Streisand and being a mom on Glee.

While her voice soars on every track, listen specifically to “Tomorrow” from Annie and “No Day But Today” from Rent. These renditions are incredible and showcase her voice in beautiful way.

Final say: Menzel is theater royalty. ★★★★★
