An animated version of the story of Moses in the Book of Exodus, this film creates a beautiful story out of one of the most inspiring of all time.

After Moses (Val Kilmer) learns that he has been adopted into the Pharaoh’s (Patrick Stewart) family, he gets a task from God to lead the Hebrew slaves to freedom. Moses’ brother and current Pharaoh Ramesses II (Ralph Fiennes) objects to the plan and does everything in his power to resist Moses.

The animation in this film is absolutely stunning. The four-minute scene where Moses parts the ocean in order for his people to cross safely is one of the most powerful animated scenes I’ve ever seen.

With music by the legendary Stephen Schwartz, songs like “When You Believe” drive the plot.

Final say: Even for the non-religious, this will entertain. ★★★★★
