Closed: September 7, 2008

Book, Music & Lyrics by: Jonathan Larson

Final Broadway Cast: Adam Kantor, Will Chase, Michael McElroy, Rodney Hicks, Tracie Thoms, Justin Johnston, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Eden Espinosa, Marcus Paul James, Gwen Stewart, Jay Wilkison, Shaun Earl, Andrea Goss, Telly Leung & Tracy McDowell

After 12 years on Broadway, this groundbreaking musical came to a close in 2008.

Six friends are suffering in New York City right around Christmas. They can’t pay rent, several have HIV or AIDS and their relationships just aren’t working out. Over the next year, they suffer loss and heartbreak, but also learn how to appreciate what they have.

Jonathan Larson’s book, music and lyrics drive this show. It became a phenomenon when it opened, especially because the younger generation was excited about a rock show. His masterpiece will fill you with energy and rage, but will also reduce you to a sobbing mess in Act II.

There are few shows that we can say really changed the theater industry and made such an impact on the world, but this is one of them.

Final say: Nothing short of perfection. ★★★★★
