Though the second film in the Knives Out series is a fantastic whodunnit with crazy twists, it just doesn’t seem to reach the same heights as its predecessor.

Billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his group of eclectic friends to his private island to participate in a murder mystery weekend. His former business partner Andi (Janelle Monáe) attends to the surprise of Miles’ friends, while Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) attends to Miles’ surprise.

Benoit Blanc becomes an entirely different character in this film. He’s overzealous and hyper compared to his mystery and intrigue in Knives Out. Though, like the first, the production design is fantastic with a brightness that many mysteries lack.

Monáe owns this film and shows off her ever-growing acting skills while Kate Hudson is hilarious in every moment.

Final say: Knives could easily cut this onion. ★★★☆☆
