In a world full of remakes, sequels and adaptations, Knives Out is a breath of fresh air as an original murder mystery with a stellar cast and fast-paced action.
When crime novelist and family patriarch Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) is found dead the morning after his 85th birthday party, his whole family is treated as suspects by Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig). Harlan’s nurse Marta (Ana de Armas) knows more than she’s willing to admit.
The film’s screenplay by director Rian Johnson resembles an Agatha Christie novel and it’s a fun mystery to try and solve. Some will guess the ending right away, while others won’t see it coming. However, if you’re part of the former group, the fun of watching it unfold is worth the viewing.
Final say: Some of the best fun you’ll have in the theater. ★★★★★
