If you’re looking for an epic war film that has its fair share of eye candy, look no further than Troy.
When Helen (Diane Kruger) returns to Troy with Paris (Orlando Bloom), her husband King Menelaus of Sparta (Brendan Gleeson) recruits his brother King Agamemnon of Greece (Brian Cox) to go to war against Sparta. Achilles (Brad Pitt) reluctantly joins the Greeks but pledges no loyalty.
This story from Greek mythology has been told for thousands of years, but this feels different as screenwriter David Benioff (of later Game of Thrones fame) strips the fantastical elements to focus on war, which makes it feel more historical.
Pitt, Bloom and Eric Bana are all in fantastic shape and do not shy away from showing their bodies. Though, beyond that, they still give phenomenal performances.
Final say: An underrated epic. ★★★★☆
