With the help of legendary screenwriter Tony Kushner and composer John Williams, director Steven Spielberg brings his most personal film to the big screen not just as an ode to his family but to filmmaking in general.
From the time he saw his first film in theaters, Sam Fabelman (Gabriel LaBelle) dreams of making movies. His mother Mitzi (Michelle Williams) loves the arts, and his father Burt (Paul Dano) supports what he thinks is a hobby. Through his films, Sam discovers more about his family.
Every detail of this film is brilliantly executed. From the incredible framing of shots to the parts of the screenplay where lines stop but the story continues to outstanding performances from Williams, Dano, Judd Hirsch and its breakout star LaBelle.
Thank you, Steven, for this masterpiece.
Final say: There’s so much said in the silences. ★★★★★
