Featuring stunning animation, Raya and the Last Dragon is a spectacle to watch and has a fantastic storyline but gets lost in the mix when compared to Disney’s other 2021 releases Encanto and Luca.
Six years after Raya (Kelly Marie Tran) misplaces her trust in Namaari (Gemma Chan), she discovers where the last dragon – Sisu (Awkwafina) – is that can help rid her world of the evil Drunn that turns people into stone. Raya and Sisu journey across lands together to reunite dragon magic.
Awkwafina steals the show with her vocal talents making what should be an all-powerful dragon into an awkward character who doesn’t know why they’re the chosen one.
The message of the film is simple, yet effective, and kids and parents alike will enjoy the action.
Final say: Another solid entry in the animated Disney catalog. ★★★★☆
