After the first season ended with a huge cliffhanger, The L Word: Generation Q’s second season is more shocking as it dives into its characters’ relationships new and old.
Sophie (Rosanny Zayas) has to choose between her feelings for best friend Finley (Jacqueline Toboni) or fiancé Dani (Arienne Mandi). Shane (Katherine Moennig) continues to run Dana’s and starts poker nights, while Bette (Jennifer Beals) enters a new chapter after her failed mayoral run and Alice (Leisha Haley) writes a memoir.
The Sophie-Finley-Dani love triangle gets old quickly and none of it is Finley or Dani’s fault. Due to her lack of commitment to her choices, Sophie becomes a highly dislikable character throughout the season.
What’s interesting is how Alice’s sexuality is explored as she’s had bi erasure against her but falls for a man.
Final say: Gets better with age. ★★★★☆
