Perhaps one of the greatest shows about the HIV/AIDS epidemic, It’s a Sin premiered at the right time with many being able to compare what was happening to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ritchie Tozer (Olly Alexander) moves to London for college and falls in with a group of LGBTQ+ people and allies who become his chosen family. Over the course of a decade, the group watches the rise of HIV/AIDS in their community with initial disbelief and, later, a strong will to live.
Jill Baxter (Lydia West) shines as the straight friend who struggles through the epidemic giving what support she can but also fearing the loss of those she loves. Alexander’s dynamic with Keeley Hawes and Shaun Dooley as his parents is smartly written as their perspectives change over the years.
Final say: Make sure you have tissues. ★★★★★
