The second season of Girls allows for character development in all of its main characters.
Hannah (Lena Dunham) breaks up with Adam (Adam Driver) and lands herself a book deal. Marnie (Allison Williams) loses her job and finds herself professionally lost. Jessa (Jemima Kirke) is in a whirlwind marriage. And Shoshana (Zosia Mamet) is emotionally distraught after losing her virginity to Ray (Alex Karpovsky).
Dunham shines in the latter half of this season as her character falls back into her old OCD habits. It’s a fantastic portrayal of mental illness that’s done with care.
You can feel and see the growth of the show comedically and emotionally through its storylines. By the end of the season, there’s a somewhat clear picture of where the characters will head next.
Final say: These girls are just trying to have fun. ★★★★★
