One of the best original limited series to come to HBO in a while, Mare of Easttown will keep you on the edge of your seat. And while you’ll be begging for more, you’ll be amazed at everything packed within its seven episodes.
Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) has been investigating the disappearance of Katie Bailery (Caitlin Houlahan) for a year when Erin McMenamin (Cailee Spaeny) is murdered. Now, she faces pressure with two high-profile cases.
Winslet is incredible in the lead role, and despite Mare’s brashness, you feel a sense of pity and sympathy for her character. As Mare’s mother, Jean Smart is a powerhouse who glues the personal side of the story together.
Twists and turns continually happen and just when you think you’ve figured out what happened, you’ll realize you’re wrong.
Final say: A thrilling mystery. ★★★★★
