Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in an action comedy sounds perfect, but Red Notice fails to make them seem like actual characters, and the storyline is easily lost.
Nolan Booth (Reynolds) is trying to collect Cleopatra’s three golden eggs before The Bishop (Gadot) does. After being framed, FBI criminal profiler John Hartley (Johnson) joins Booth to clear his name.
Johnson, Reynolds and Gadot shine. Their funny, attractive and have great chemistry, which is what you want to see. However, it’s hard to separate any of them from their characters. Johnson and Reynolds especially are playing roles we’ve seen them perform many times before.
Too much of the film is too unrealistic to be taken seriously and will often create more laughs, even when it doesn’t mean to.
Final say: Entertainment with a red notice on it. ★★☆☆☆
