Premiered: January 31, 2012
On: Comedy Central
Starring: Keegan-Michael Key & Jordan Peele
While Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele share a strong sense of comedy, the first season of their sketch show doesn’t contain enough memorable content to really soar.
Key and Peele star in several sketches while also hosting the show in a stand-up comic format. Both actors appear in each skit, while guest actors appear to fill in the spots the duo is acting against.
The best skit and easily the most memorable is that of President Barack Obama (Peele) and his anger translator Luther (Key). With Peele nailing his Obama impression, Key can go above and beyond extremities.
Unlike a Saturday Night Live, sometimes the comedy gets a bit repetitive and seeing the same two actors many times makes them lose some edge as you get used to their personalities.
Final say: Here’s to hoping for more in season two. ★★★☆☆
