Rent – Live finally proves the dangers of live broadcast musicals when an unfortunate accident made the dress rehearsal the final show.

A new version of the classic musical, Rent follows the lives of eight friends throughout a year in New York City. Some are HIV positive and suffering from AIDS and most are down on their luck.

Brennin Hunt, who played Roger, broke his foot, which made the producers show the dress rehearsal instead of a live performance. The last 15 minutes of the show were live and featured the original Broadway cast.

You can easily tell that the majority of the actors were not giving their all in the performances and were saving it for the live version. The only person who truly shined was Vanessa Hudgens as Maureen.

Final say: Not quite live or good. ★★☆☆☆
