Season five of Schitt’s Creek builds on the others and continues to build its core set of characters.
Johnny (Eugene Levy) builds the brand of the hotel with Stevie (Emily Hampshire) and Roland (Chris Elliott). Moira (Catherine O’Hara) continues to use her artistic skills to their potential. David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy) both get more serious with their boyfriends – Patrick (Noah Reid) and Ted (Dustin Milligan).
Patrick and Ted put David and Alexis through many situations this season that test their emotional capacities. Both couples face big moments by the end of the season. All four actors do tremendous character work.
Hampshire really steps out of her shell this season with Stevie performing in Cabaret. If her “Maybe This Time” doesn’t make you emotional, I don’t know what will.
Final say: This time, they still win. ★★★★★
