With great talent in the leading roles and an intense storyline, The Path may not be a drama you’ve heard of but is one you might want to check out.
Born into the Meyerist movement and experiencing it her whole life, Sarah Lane’s (Michelle Monaghan) life spirals as her converted husband Eddie (Aaron Paul) and son Hawk (Kyle Allen) both show doubts in their faith. Meyerism leader Cal (Hugh Dancy) struggles in his position.
Paul plays his character well – despite looking too young to have a teenage son – as he navigates his doubts while still maintaining a normal outward personality.
However, it’s Allen’s Hawk that becomes the more interesting character as he discovers parts of life outside the movement. It reflects modern life with different religious facets.
Final say: A slow start, but the tension builds to a gripping story. ★★★☆☆
