Released: October 7, 2016
By: Lizzo
Her debut solo EP released slightly before the single “Truth Hurts” and the album Cuz I Love You that catapulted her to fame, Lizzo’s Coconut Oil gives a good sneak peek into the artist she was about to bloom into.
The songs on this EP – as usual with Lizzo’s brand – are all about self-love and care. She explodes with the first song, “Worship,” where she knows her worth and wants others to realize it as well. It’s a perfect blend of R&B, gospel and rap.
Later, she follows up with the now-popular “Good as Hell.” This song has become one of her signatures and it’s easy to see why as she belts easily singable lyrics that can be the perfect pick-me-up. You can feel her passion and will want to emulate it.
Final say: This EP is good as Hell. ★★★★★
