Featuring a soundtrack that’ll keep you moving and fun performances from its lead actors, Work It may not be the most original or compelling film, but it’ll keep you smiling from start to finish.
After lying to a Duke admission counselor (Michelle Buteau) and subsequently failing her audition for her school’s dance crew, Quinn Ackerman (Sabrina Carpenter) enlists her best friend Jasmine Hale (Liza Koshy) to create a new team.
The film will leave you with so many questions that came from plot holes, but all intentions were good, and it follows a typical dance movie style. It’s modern and features tons of diversity with a few notable instances of consent.
Carpenter and Jordan Fisher are easy to fall for, while Koshy keeps it funny and Keiynan Lonsdale has the perfect amount of sass.
Final say: It works. ★★★★☆
