A sequel to the 2002 film, Scooby-Doo 2 tries to return to its roots featuring villains from the television series, but still doesn’t do much to engage an audience whose age is in double digits.
When the opening of Patrick Wisely’s (Seth Green) museum in tribute to Mystery Inc. and those they’ve unmasked is interrupted by an evil figure (Scott McNeil) that brings the costumes to life, Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Scooby-Doo (Neil Fanning) decide to become real detectives and solve the mystery.
The main fun in this comes from seeing villains that appeared in the first season of the animated show, including Black Knight Ghost, Captain Cutler and Miner 49er. Though, they’re not nearly as scary.
Sarah Michelle Gellar shows off some great fight moves as a stronger version of Daphne than seen before.
Final say: Cover your eyes. ★★☆☆☆
