Hanging onto everything that made the first season funny and developing the main characters, season two of Schitt’s Creek is somehow better than its predecessor.
Not being able to sell the town, the Roses are still stuck in Schitt’s Creek. David (Dan Levy) and Alexis (Annie Murphy) both get jobs to help support their family while Moira (Catherine O’Hara) is running for town council.
While maintaining their flawed personalities, watching David and Alexis grow by taking on responsibilities is a treat. It gives depth to their already strong characters. O’Hara is perfect in every episode and has excellent chemistry with her frequent scene partner Jenn Robertson – who plays Moira’s friendly competitor Jocelyn.
The comedic timing is stellar and the combination of smart writing with great performances makes the show well-hidden gold.
Final say: Family values add heart. ★★★★★
