Featuring a lot of action but little plot, The Predator will thrill audiences with its gore but doesn’t hold up against similar-type movies.
Captain Quinn McKenna (Boyd Holbrook) discovers Predators and comes into possession of some armor, which his autistic son Rory (Jacob Tremblay) gets a hold of. When the Predators come for Rory, a ragtag team of soldiers and biologist Casey Bracket (Olivia Munn) team up to take them down.
The Predator is portrayed live-action and not CGI, which is helpful since the quality of CGI wavers throughout the film. Some parts – like the spaceship – are believable while others – like the killing of the alien dogs – are not.
Character development is not of high priority here and character deaths are therefore not as affecting.
Final say: Come if you’re looking for action. ★★☆☆☆
