What Hamilton did for reclaiming the history of its American namesake, Six does the same for the women of English history involved.
The six wives of King Henry VIII – Catherine of Aragon (Jarnéia Richard-Noel), Anne Boleyn (Millie O’Connell), Jane Seymour (Natalie Paris), Anna of Cleves (Alexia McIntosh), Katherine Howard (Aimie Atkinson) and Catherine Parr (Maiya Quansah-Breed) – come together to determine which wife is history’s favorite.
Historically categorized together, Six defines each wife as her own person that went through difficulties. Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss’ staging of a pop/hip-hop concert allows a way for them to connect with the audience in a way that doesn’t feel like a history lesson.
Each of the actresses – in their gorgeous costumes – demands attention when it’s their turn and is equally supportive when it’s not.
Final say: Six stars for history to remember. ★★★★★(★)
