Pixar knows how to make a film with a strong emotional core, so in this one they made emotions the main characters.
Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) is a normal 11-year-old girl with a happy life with her mom (Diane Lane) and dad (Kyle MacLachlan). When they move from a small town in Minnesota to San Francisco, her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Disgust (Mindy Kaling), Fear (Bill Hader) and Anger (Lewis Black) – are thrown into new adventures.
There are deep messages here – especially about how your emotions work together – that a film studio outside of Disney and Pixar would have trouble conveying.
With a fast-paced story and great vocal performances by the main cast – especially Poehler and Smith – Inside Out will stay with you long after the credits roll.
Final say: Get ready to tap into your emotions. ★★★★★
