Wall-E is a gripping romance that makes you think about the environment.

On a deserted Earth, Wall-E (Ben Burtt) is a trash compactor trying to clean the land. When EVE (Elissa Knight) shows up and finds evidence of a plant growing, Wall-E follows her back to the starship Axiom where humans have been waiting to return to Earth.

Other than sound effects, this is mostly a silent film when it comes to Wall-E and EVE, which means you’re relying on the animation to tell their love story. And Pixar presents that in an adorable way. Watching Wall-E learn about love from an old Hello, Dolly! VHS is a fantastic idea that’s executed perfectly.

In a larger sense, this film is a warning about what we’re doing to Earth and how future generations will be affected.

Final say: Heed the warnings. ★★★★★
