Though Prom Night tries to be terrifying and features a solid performance from Brittany Snow, there’s not a moment that the film measures up to what a true horror film should be.
Years after her family is killed by a teacher (Johnathon Schaech) who becomes obsessed with her, Donna Keppel (Snow) is getting ready for her prom night. When the teacher escapes from prison, her hunts her friends down until he can get to her.
This prom is more extravagant than any American prom a student would see, and the high school students are straight stereotypes with terrible acting. The cast looks great, but you don’t really care as the characters begin dying.
Every action is so predictable that you’re never really scared. Plus, there’s not enough backstory to truly justify what’s happening.
Final say: Don’t remember this night. ★☆☆☆☆
