The follow-up to 2013’s terrifying The Conjuring, this sequel takes place about six years after the events of the original and follows a story that is just as – if not more – frightening than the first.
When Janet Dodgson (Madison Wolfe) shows signs of demonic possession, her story reaches Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson & Vera Farmiga). The pair of paranormal investigators travel to the Hodgson’s house in Enfield, London to help the family and determine if it’s is a hoax or not.
Whereas the first Conjuring film had the mom being possessed, this one is almost scarier having a child be possessed. There are some scares that seem fake or less disturbing than some of the more practical ones, but overall there’s a ton to scream at here.
Final say: A rare horror sequel that matches the first. ★★★★★
