While many won’t agree with the plot that supports assisted suicide, Me Before You is a great adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ novel featuring a romantic pairing of Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin.
After being hit by a motorcyclist, Will Traynor (Claflin) is bound to a wheelchair as he’s paralyzed from the neck down. Louisa “Lou” Clark (Clarke) takes a position as his caretaker and though their personalities clash at first, she tries to make him feel like his life’s worth living.
Clarke plays a stark opposite role from what Game of Thrones fans are used to seeing and she’s every bit as entertaining to watch. You’ll sympathize with her throughout.
Within the film, different characters have different opinions on Will’s decision for assisted suicide and it’s a good conversation starter in real life.
Final say: Eye-opening and romantic. ★★★★☆
