Moulin Rouge! is a spectacle to watch and easily the greatest original movie musical of the 21st century.
English poet Christian (Ewan McGregor) is taken in by a group of Bohemians and convinced to help write their musical Spectacular Spectacular. Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (John Leguizamo) wants to sell the musical to Moulin Rouge owner Harold Zidler (Jim Broadbent), which in turn will help make courtesan Satine (Nicole Kidman) a star.
McGregor and Kidman have incredible chemistry and even though you know from the start that the ending will not work in their favor, you’re constantly cheering for them. Both show off their vocal abilities – mainly on popular songs reworked for the film.
Director Baz Luhrmann creates a dazzling world full of color with intricate sets and beautiful costumes.
Final say: So exciting – the audience will stomp and cheer. ★★★★★
