In this hilarious ensemble comedy, great costumes and makeup lead to mistaken identity and an interesting meeting.
When Val Goldman (Dan Futterman) wants to introduce his fiancé Barbara’s (Calista Flockhart) family to his own, he’s concerned about her conservative father, Senator Kevin Keeley (Gene Hackman) and how he’ll react to Val’s gay father, Armand (Robin Williams) and his drag queen partner Albert (Nathan Lane).
Every single person in this cast is incredible and brings a humorous performance. While Williams and Hank Azaria might give stereotypical performances of gay men, they do it with seeming heart and care. Lane and Williams are both over the top and fantastic comedic partners.
There’s a lot of love in this film that exposed homosexual relationships to viewers when that wasn’t normal.
Final say: You won’t stop laughing. ★★★★★
