Following the lives of several women living in the same Louisiana town, Steel Magnolias is a character-driven story that will have you laughing just as much as you’re crying.
Shortly before her wedding, Shelby’s (Julia Roberts) told that she shouldn’t have kids of her own due to her struggle with diabetes. Her mother M’Lynn (Sally Field) worries about her and voices her troubles to the women at Truvy’s (Dolly Parton) beauty.
Steel Magnolias introduces a wide array of female characters and their intertwining relationships. Some are starting relationships at various ages, while another has lost her husband. Many of them are working and all of them are facing different struggles in life.
The main cast is hilarious and bring in humor during the most intense and sad moments, which makes the dialogue feel real and unscripted.
Final say: Beautifully brilliant. ★★★★★
