Released: July 22, 2008
By: Miley Cyrus
Though often recognized for her Disney Channel alter ego-Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus released her second studio album as its own project and not involved with her television show.
With 12 songs, Cyrus touches on different topics like heartbreak and coming of age. It’s similar to her Hannah Montana music, but a solid choice. “7 Things” is a sweet song that smoother on the verses, but brings a pop tempo to rock out on the chorus.
Cyrus also updates Cyndi Lauper‘s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” which is a bit faster than the original, but a version that kids and parents will both love.
Perhaps one of the best songs is “Wake Up America,” which talks about saving the planet and how someone young may know better than those around them. Its lyrics are still relevant today.
Final say: Expected, but enjoyable. ★★★★☆
