Though it’s a shorter fourth season due to the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike, The Office proves to have a strong comeback after a weak third season.
Pam (Jenna Fischer) gets to follow her dreams and attend a graphic design course in New York leading to a three-months away from Jim (John Krasinski). Ryan (B.J. Novak) enters the corporate world and spectacularly fails. Phyllis (Phyllis Smith) cataches Dwight (Rainn Wilson) and Angela (Angela Kinsey) in a compromising act.
Watching Jim and Pam apart is heartbreaking, but it proves the strength of their relationship. On the flip-side of relationships, Michael (Steve Carell) and Jan’s (Melora Hardin) dinner party leads to one of the funniest and most uncomfortable episodes of The Office. Hardin and Carell are brilliant and thrive off each other’s energy.
Final say: Love is hard. ★★★★☆
