Full of the greatest actors of the 1960s, It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is comedy gold.
When “Smiler” Grogan (Jimmy Durante) drives his car off the road, he entrusts the secret of $350,000 with five men who ran down to check on him. The five begin playing nice and promising to share but are soon on a race to find the money first.
Each of the storylines in this film begins together, diverge and then come back together in the end. There’s so much to watch and each storyline brings new characters and new laughs. Ethel Merman and Sid Caesar bring some of the best comedy, but each person has their moments.
While the film seemingly goes on forever clocking in over three hours, there’s hardly a dull moment.
Final say: Long and mad, but so much fun. ★★★★☆
