Released: September 25, 2007
Back when this album was released, The Cheetah Girls were easily one of the most recognizable names to come out of the Disney Channel. Their upbeat songs and strong vocals on their debut studio album prove the hype surrounding them.
The music on this album is what pop dreams are made of. The lead single “Fuego” brought in Hispanic flair back before it became part of every new hit, while “So Bring It On” has a feminist edge to it.
None of the music sounds too different from what you’d hear in their films. You can feel that there’s more to their sound than what Disney is allowing them to do, but they’ve had limits put on them. Also, the loss of Raven-Symoné’s vocals takes the strongest voice from the mix.
Final say: Sort-of Cheetahlicious. ★★★☆☆
