This important musical brings to life the stories of World War II vets dealing with post-traumatic stress after the end of the war.
Upon returning home to Cleveland, Donny Novitski (Corey Cott) creates a band of veterans to enter in the National Radio Swing Band Competition in Tribute to the Troops. He also enlists the help of Julia Trojan (Laura Osnes), the widow of his best friend in the war.
Cott gives the performance of a lifetime as Donny. It’s easy to see the pain he’s endured after serving in the war and the hope he has that his voice will be heard. The Act I closer, “Right This Way,” perfectly showcases how dynamic of a performer Cott is.
As the show continues, the score gets more intense with Osnes really developing her character.
Final say: A beautiful, entertaining show. ★★★★★
