Griffin’s first boyfriend Theo dies in a drowning accident and his life is thrown into shambles. While he and Theo broke up before Theo went to college, Griffin always thought they’d fall back together. Now, he has to learn how to move on.

Author Adam Silvera is a masterful writer who brings such beautiful pain to each page of the novel. But in Griffin’s pain, you find hope. It’s a great story for young adults to read to know that even the worst things that happen in your life won’t be the end of the world.

You’ll constantly be questioning Griffin’s decisions. I found myself cheering him on while continually thinking that his decisions were wrong. It feels like a real friendship with the character.
