An immersive one-act show with a beautifully heartbreaking tale, Once on This Island is one of the best productions on Broadway.
Ti Moune (Hailey Kilgore) is a peasant girl who had been saved as a young girl by four gods: Asaka (Alex Newell), Agwe (Quinten Earl Darrington), Erzulie (Darlesia Cearcy) and Papa Ge (Merle Dandridge). When she falls for grand homme Daniel (Isaac Powell), she enlists the help of the gods again.
Showing in a theater in the round, you’ll feel immersed in the show from the moment you walk into the theater. The show literally happens on an island with the cast members taking the stage and preparing as the audience enters.
The music is absolutely beautiful and you can feel Ti Moune’s hope on “Waiting for Life.”
Final say: An experience that you can’t miss. ★★★★★
