LGBT life in Hollywood has always been predominant, but the stars of the Golden Years were only talked about in passing rumors.
In his tell-all memoir, Scotty Bowers – the Hollywood pimp for a number of years, though he’d prefer not to be known that way – tells his version of the truth. He writes about pairing up a number of celebrities with sexual partners.
No one is left out – Spencer Tracy, Cary Grant and Vivien Leigh were all his lovers, while he helped “trick” James Dean, Katharine Hepburn and Rock Hudson among others. Even J. Edgar Hoover and England’s abdicated King Edward VIII make appearances.
Even in his personal stories, he leaves the majority of the R-rated details out. For a book about sex, it seems to be much more about name-dropping.
Final say: You’ll read the dullest gossip of yesteryear. ★★☆☆☆
