Okay, I know this is a kids album, but parts of this recording feel all over the place.

There are some Christmas classics like Bobby Helms’ “Jingle Bell Rock” and Burl Ives’ “A Holly Jolly Christmas.” Then, there are some originals and covers by new artists (well new at the time) like NSYNC’s “Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays” and Spice Girls’ “Sleigh Ride.” These are all great fun and can be listened to by everyone.

But, some of the songs get a little weird. There’s a rendition of “Jingle Bells” by The Singing Dogs. And that’s exactly what you’d expect it to be – just dog barks to the tune of “Jingle Bells.” And there’s a Christmas rendition of “Macarena.” Isn’t the original version enough? Who asked for a Christmas version?

Final say: Fun parts, but several songs to be skipped. ★★★☆☆
